A personal trainer's website: who you train, how it works, and how to start

What should a personal trainer website include? Who you train, how you work, what it costs to start, your certifications, and one clear way to book a first session. People do not hire a trainer from a list of exercises. They hire someone they believe will get them to a result, and the site’s job is to make that belief possible before the first call.

This is the trade version of a broader question, what pages a small business website needs. Here is what changes when what you sell is yourself.

Question 1 of 6

Who is the site for?

Not everyone, and the trainers whose sites work say so plainly. “I train busy parents who want to get strong again” converts better than “fitness for all levels”, because the right visitor recognizes themselves in the first line.

Decide who you are best at helping and put it at the top:

  • The goal: strength, weight loss, rehab after an injury, sport performance, general health.
  • The person: beginners, older adults, athletes, new mothers, people who hate gyms.
  • The format: in person, at a gym or at home, online, small groups.

A visitor who does not fit will leave, and that is fine. A visitor who does will call.

Question 2 of 6

How should sessions and packages be presented?

Clearly, with prices or a starting price. People looking for a trainer are already worried about cost and commitment. A site that hides both makes them assume the worst.

What to show Why
A single session price the easiest way to understand your rate
Packages (10 sessions, monthly) what most clients actually buy
A first session or assessment the step that turns a visitor into a client
What a session includes length, where, what happens

If you offer a free or reduced first session, make it the main button on the site. It is the lowest-risk step for someone who has never worked with a trainer.

Question 3 of 6

What proves you are good at this?

Your credentials, your approach and your clients’ results, in that order of what you can honestly show.

  • Certifications, named, and any specialties. Visitors look for them.
  • How you work: an assessment first, a plan, check-ins. People want to know what they are signing up for.
  • Results, but only real ones. Before and after photos and quotes need your clients’ written permission, and a site with a few genuine stories beats one with many vague ones. Never use photos of people who are not your clients.

Question 4 of 6

What photos should a trainer use?

You, working with people, in the place you actually train. Real sessions in real light beat any stock image of a model with perfect abs, which tells visitors nothing about you.

  • You coaching, not just posing.
  • The space: the gym, the home setup, the park where you run group sessions.
  • Clients, with permission, if they are happy to appear.

Question 5 of 6

What should you leave off?

  • Long lists of exercises or training methods only another trainer would understand.
  • Vague promises of transformation without saying how.
  • A blog you will not update. Three old posts do more harm than none.
  • A form with ten questions before someone can even book a first talk.

Question 6 of 6

Which pages matter, and what does it cost?

Page What goes on it Why it matters
Home who you train, how, the first step the decision is made here
Sessions and prices single, packages, what is included the question behind every enquiry
About your certifications, your approach, your story why they choose you
Contact booking or a short form, where you train the end of the path

Three ways to have it built:

  • EUR 490 (coming soon): you build the site yourself, guided by filmed videos that show every step.
  • EUR 1,190: I build it from your text and your photos. EUR 357 when you order, EUR 833 when the site goes live, and it is live within 15 business days, counted on the French working calendar, from the start date I confirm in writing once the deposit has cleared and your content is complete.
  • From EUR 3,000: designed for you from scratch, both amounts on the quote.

Four to six pages are included depending on the template, and an extra page is EUR 90. There is a template built for coaching, with the sessions and the first step already laid out. If you want clients to book or follow a program inside the site, that is a custom build, and it is worth talking about before you choose. You are billed in euros, so the dollar amount moves with the exchange rate on the day you pay, and your card may add a foreign transaction fee.

If budget decides it, know that the subscription is cheaper for years: a $19 a month builder plan costs less over three years than a site built once. Paying once makes sense when you would rather spend your evenings with clients than building pages, and want the site on a domain you own. The full comparison, including where it goes against me, is in what a small business website costs.

Frequently asked questions

Is Instagram enough for a personal trainer?

It is often where people first find you. It is rarely where they decide. Before paying for a package, most people want to see prices, how sessions work and your credentials in one place, and a feed makes them hunt for it. The site is where a follower becomes a client.

Should I train online and in person on the same site?

Yes, if you do both, but give each its own clear section. Someone local looking for sessions at a gym and someone across the country looking for an online program need different information, and neither should have to read through the other's to find it.

Can I use client transformations on my site?

Only with each client's written permission, and only if the results are real and typical of what you do. An exceptional result shown as if it were normal sets expectations you cannot meet. A few honest stories, with the client's own words, do more than a wall of before and after photos.
