Guides to help you choose

How to build your site, what it costs, who to hand it to. Comparisons, not articles.

Each guide compares the ways of doing the same thing: rebuilding a site that runs on a subscription, starting one from scratch, handing the work to someone or keeping it yourself. You get a table with the first-year cost, the time it takes, who does the work, and who fixes it when it breaks.

Prices come from public pricing pages, with the date they were checked at the bottom. When a price is not public, the cell stays empty instead of being estimated. Vicou Studio appears in the comparisons, in its place and with its limits: every guide also says when I am not the right answer. It is written for a shop owner, a tradesperson or a freelancer who has to decide once, without spending their evenings on it.
