An auto repair shop's website: what earns trust, and what you can skip

What should an auto repair website include? The services you do, the makes you work on, how estimates work, your hours, your address and a way to book or call. Most drivers cannot judge a repair themselves, and many have been overcharged before. The site’s real job is to show that you are the shop that explains before it charges.

This is the trade version of a broader question, what pages a small business website needs. Here is what changes when the customer is worried about being taken advantage of.

Question 1 of 6

What does a driver check before calling a shop?

Four things:

  1. Do you fix my problem: brakes, a check engine light, an oil change, transmission.
  2. Do you work on my car: the makes you service, and whether you specialize.
  3. Can I trust you: how you handle estimates, your reviews, how long you have been open.
  4. Can I get in soon: hours, whether you take appointments, how long a common job takes.

The shops that win are the ones that answer the third question honestly, because it is the one most drivers are nervous about.

Question 2 of 6

How do you show you can be trusted?

By explaining how you work, before the customer has to ask.

What to explain Why it matters
How estimates work written before work starts, and whether diagnosis is charged
That you call before extra work the fear behind most bad reviews in this trade
Any warranty on parts and labor if you offer one, state its actual terms
Who works on the car your techs, their experience, any certifications they hold

None of this needs to be long. A few plain sentences about how you handle a job do more than any claim of honesty.

Question 3 of 6

Should a repair shop show prices?

Show what you can fix a price on, and explain the rest. Oil changes, inspections, a diagnostic fee: these can be listed. A brake job or a transmission repair depends on the car and the parts, and drivers accept that when you say why.

What loses customers is a site with no idea of cost at all. In a trade where people fear surprise bills, a clear diagnostic fee and a promise to call before extra work is worth more than a long price list.

Question 4 of 6

What should the services page say?

The jobs, in the words drivers use. Nobody searches “automotive maintenance solutions”. They search “brake repair”, “check engine light”, “oil change near me”.

  • List each service by name, one line each.
  • Name the makes you work on, or say you service all makes.
  • Say what you do not do, if there is anything: bodywork, diesel, certain brands.

Question 5 of 6

What photos work for a repair shop?

Your real shop: the bays, the equipment, the team, a clean waiting area if you have one. A tidy, well-lit shop reassures more than any slogan, and a real photo of your crew tells people who they are handing their keys to. Stock photos of a spotless showroom garage tell them nothing about you.

Question 6 of 6

Which pages matter, and what does it cost?

Page What goes on it Why it matters
Home services, makes, hours, address, phone most drivers stop here
Services each job named, what is fixed-price the phrases people search
How we work estimates, calling before extra work, warranty the page that earns trust
Contact booking or phone, map, hours the end of the path

Three ways to have it built:

  • EUR 490 (coming soon): you build the site yourself, guided by filmed videos that show every step.
  • EUR 1,190: I build it from your text and your photos. EUR 357 when you order, EUR 833 when the site goes live, and it is live within 15 business days, counted on the French working calendar, from the start date I confirm in writing once the deposit has cleared and your content is complete.
  • From EUR 3,000: designed for you from scratch, both amounts on the quote.

Four to six pages are included depending on the template, and an extra page is EUR 90. If you want customers to book a slot online, tell me what you use today and we will see how it fits, or it can be built into a custom site. You are billed in euros, so the dollar amount moves with the exchange rate on the day you pay, and your card may add a foreign transaction fee.

Since this trade is about not surprising people with the bill: the subscription is cheaper for years. A $19 a month builder plan costs less over three years than a site built once. Paying once buys a finished site on a written date, with the how-we-work page done properly, on a domain in your name. I lay out both sides in what a small business website costs.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Google Business Profile enough for a repair shop?

It does a lot, because "auto repair near me" lands on the map, and your reviews show there. What it cannot do is explain how you work: your estimates, your warranty, calling before extra work. Those are what turn a driver comparing three shops into your customer, and they need a page.

How important are reviews for an auto repair shop?

Very, because they are the main way a driver judges honesty before the first visit. Ask after a job the customer was clearly happy with, especially one where you saved them money or explained something well. The rules on asking are in [how to get more Google reviews](/blog/how-to-get-more-google-reviews/).

Should I list every make I work on?

List them if you specialize, because owners of those makes search for specialists. If you service everything, say "all makes and models" and name the ones you see most. A driver with an unusual car wants to know before calling whether you will take it.
